Coming Back Home

On December 17th, 1944 U.S U.S Major General Henry C. Pratt notified the general public that in the beginning of January 2nd, 1945, the U.S government would uplift the order that banned Japanese and Japanese-Americans from resettling in the West Coast in sequence of their release from World War II internment camps. Approximately, 120,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were released from the concentration camps when the last one closed in on March 2nd, 1946 in Tule Lake. So, there was a massive wave of Japanese and Japanese-Americans coming back to their West Coast homes. However, resettlement was not easy for most Japanese-internees when they came back to the Delta region for several reasons that will be discussed in the following page.
