Members of the Light House Mission came together to build the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church

Religious outreach started with the Lighthouse Mission in Stockton, California. It was established by Dr. Henry C. Peterson and his wife in the 1920s. The main room was used for bible study while the basement was used to house students and single men. During the depression, the mission fed and housed the hungry and homeless of the community.

The activities of the mission inspired the Filipino members of the mission to create the Filipino Christian Fellowship in 1931 which provided many more activities for the community. The Filipino Christian Fellowship brought different forms of entertainment to the community such as “band music, drama, native songs, devotional hymns, forum discussions, community meeting space, games, and educational lectures”. Much like the Lighthouse Mission, the Filipino Christian Fellowship had a place for students and single men to live. They housed 40-50 people (mostly men) at a time.
